
Rise in unemployment
October 8, 2009On August 14, the International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Mukhriz Tun Mahathir highlighted that the unemployment rate may rise to 4.5% by year-end from 3.7% last year. To combat this issue the ministry will train interested graduates and undergraduate to be entrepreneurs. This training programme is in collaboration the National Entrepreneurship Institute (Insken), Jobmarket Sdn Bhd and Basis Holdings Sdn Bhd Malaysian Entrepreneur Development Centre, Universiti Teknologi Mara and SME Bank. Those who complete the training will obtain loans to start their business.
